CARPHA and the IDB have signed a Pandemic Fund Technical Cooperation Agreement.

The agreement is the first multilateral financing mechanism dedicated to providing multi-year grants to help low- and middle-income countries better prepare for future pandemics.

CARPHA says it will also support the strengthening of disease surveillance and early warning systems, laboratory systems and workforce capacity at CARPHA and its member states.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, T&T Health Minister Terrance Deyalsingh said the region must learn from the experiences of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The agreement was signed at the Hilton Trinidad this morning.
