A ceremony was held today to open the newly installed Boardwalk within the Caroni Swamp.

Today’s opening coincides with World Wetlands Day, which is aimed at highlighting the indispensable role wetlands play in ecological equilibrium.

Cutting the ribbon was Agriculture Minister Kazim Hosein who underscored the crucial role of wetlands in providing essential resources and protection from natural elements.

Also speaking was Permanent Secretary Farook Hosein, who says the Boardwalk offers a unique vantage point, especially for those unable to explore by boat, and ensures that everyone can witness the stunning spectacle of the Scarlet Ibis in flight.
