CARICOM Sub-Committee receives report on The Way Forward For WI Cricket

Today, the CARICOM Prime Ministerial Sub-Committee on Cricket received a report on The Way Forward for West Indies Cricket.

In April, Trinidad hosted the CARICOM Regional Cricket Conference, during which time Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley commissioned the report.

The report was prepared by former West Indies captain Sir Clive Lloyd and former West Indies Vice Captain Deryck Murray.

It covers the key areas of West Indies cricket including grassroots development, school cricket, governance, and the Caribbean Premier League.

At today’s virtual meeting, Guyana’s President Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali joined the President of Cricket West Indies Dr. Kishore Shallow and Presidents of Territorial Boards, and members of CWI Management in robust discussion on the report.

Also in attendance were Minister of Sport and Community Development, Shamfa Cudjoe-Lewis, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs Dr Amery Browne and Minister of Tourism, Culture and the Arts Randall Mitchell.

According to the Office of the Prime Minister, today’s meeting advanced the work for the second CARICOM Cricket Symposium scheduled for next month in Guyana.
