Caribbean nationals to need ETA to travel to the UK from Jan 8, 2025

Caribbean nationals who do not require a visa to travel to the UK will soon need electronic travel authorization (ETA).

The UK government has announced plans to deliver a more streamlined, digital immigration system.

The British High Commission in T&T says, in keeping with these plans, ETAs will be required to visit the UK effective January 8th, 2025.

Eligible Caribbean nationals can apply for an ETA starting from November 27th, 2024 by using the UK ETA app or visiting the website gov.uk.

An ETA costs £10 and permits multiple journeys to the UK for stays of up to six months at a time, over two years or until the holder’s passport expires.

Applicants would need to pay the fee, provide contact and passport details, provide a valid photo in keeping with the UK government’s rules for digital photos and answer some questions.

Applicants usually get a decision within three working days.
