Reports of a security “pat down” for Caribbean Airlines passengers in Orlando, Florida are being dismissed by the airline.
UNC Deputy Leader Dr Roodal Moonilal last night claimed that 80% of passengers on the flight were subjected to secondary screening, which he dubbed “much more aggressive.”
He alleged, “80% of those passengers – eight out of ten – were placed in special jackets they had to put on. They were ushered, carted away to a security room where they were subjected to a much more aggressive pat down. Their luggage was searched again and some also had to undertake what is called swabbing of electronic devices for explosive residue.”
In a media release today, Caribbean Airlines says it carried out thorough checks with senior personnel in Orlando and confirms that no such screening exercise was conducted with respect to its passengers.
It adds that it has not received any notification or advisory from the United States indicating that such an exercise was conducted or is being contemplated.
