Canada will invest CAD$24.1 million in CARICOM to promote social action, women’s empowerment, and human rights and security in the region, including in Haiti.
A statement from CARICOM’s Secretariat welcomed the investment by Canada’s Minister of International Development Ahmed Hussen, who initially announced the support at the recent 48th CARICOM Summit.
Initiatives to benefit from the venture include recovery and reconstruction efforts following the passage of Hurricane Beryl in 2024, biodiversity governance, and reproductive education.
