Campbell suspended after Super50 Cup actions

Jamaica Scorpions Captain John Campbell has been suspended for four matches following an incident in the Super50 Cup final last month.

According to Cricket West Indies, the charge relates to Campbell’s decision to not attend the coin toss as instructed by umpires.

Campbell has apologized for his actions in a letter to Match Referee Reon King.

The Super50 Cup final in Tarouba was abandoned after the 50-over game was rain-reduced to a 20-over game, but neither captain showed up for the toss, allowing time to elapse past the latest starting point.

CWI says Barbados Pride’s Captain Raymon Reifer, who is facing a similar charge as Campbell, has not responded.

It notes that, should he not respond, the matter would proceed to the disciplinary committee.
