Calls for state of emergency at inaugural Opposition crime talks

The Opposition Leader says what is needed now in T&T to address crime is a state of emergency.

She made the statement as she agreed with political scientist Dr Indira Rampersad at the inaugural Leader of the Opposition Anti-Crime Town Meeting last evening at the La Joya Complex.

Dr Rampersad said communities are living in fear, and noted the People’s Partnership’s state of emergency, drawing a response from Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar.

Last evening’s crime talks also included former Police Commissioner Gary Griffith, Professor Hubert Daisley, security consultant Enrique Rodriguez.
