Calls for digital equity for all students, including differently abled

There is a call from the Blind Welfare Association to ensure children who are visually impaired are not left out of the government’s laptop distribution plan in September.

Executive Officer Kenneth Suratt says these students require laptops equipped with appropriate assistive technologies, including refreshable Braille.

He adds that without the support to access learning materials on an equal footing with their peers, they can face challenges in keeping up with the curriculum.

Mr Suratt says this is a crucial opportunity to promote inclusive education and ensure digital equity for all students, especially those with disabilities.
