CAL announces two charter flights to Miami

Follow many cancelled Caribbean Airlines flights on Sunday due to staff constraints, some charter flights were announced to service the Port of Spain to Miami route.

On Sunday night, two flights left Miami to come to Trinidad, and on Monday, there are two chartered flights out of Piarco to Miami.

They are BW484 leaving at 1pm and G6607 departing at 2pm.

Yesterday, many domestic and international flights were cancelled due to what CAL said were “severe cockpit crew constraints.”

The airline said there was a remarkably high volume of calls from pilots reporting that they are unwell and unable to report for duty.

It comes as CAL is currently in negotiations with the Trinidad and Tobago Airline Pilots Association over a collective agreement for the period 2015 -2018.

The flight disruptions are not expected to disrupt the transportation of players for the ongoing CPL tournament.

Newsday reported that CPL head of communications Peter Miller said “We are aware of the disruptions to flights and have been in contact with CAL and the various stakeholders involved in our transit plans. As things stand, CPL doesn’t expect to be impacted by these flight disruptions but we have contingencies in place should the situation change.”
