The Cabo Star is expected to arrive in Port of Spain at 7am tomorrow for inspections, re-certifications and repairs.
Following a fire in the engine room on Wednesday night, the vessel was towed to the Port of Scarborough yesterday, where passengers, vehicles and loose cargoes were offloaded.
The Port Authority says all passengers were medically examined – 63 returned home in Tobago, four came back to Trinidad on the Galleons Passage, and accommodation was provided for 13.
The accommodated passengers returned to Trinidad on today’s 6:30am sailing.
The Authority maintains that the Cabo Star will resume service only when it is certified safe to operate.
In the interim, additional sailings have been scheduled on the APT James, Buccoo Reef and the Galleons Passage for vehicles weighing up to 7,000 kilograms.
All other sailings remain as scheduled.
