West Indies captain Kraigg Brathwaite has called on his players to have the belief that they can take on the world’s best bowlers.
The Test team was beaten by 10 wickets in the first game against Australia, only managing scores of 188 and 120 against a bowling attack led by Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins.
Speaking after the defeat, Brathwaite said that his players have the heart but need to have the belief that they can get the job done.
When asked about Shamar Joseph’s scores of 36 and 15 batting at number 11, Brathwaite added that his belief is amazing, “If all the guys could have that… you know that would be great. But he’s obviously a special guy and he gave a lot of confidence to the team as well when we see him playing his shots.”
West Indies next face Australia in the second and final Test of the series in Brisbane in a day/night affair from midnight (T&T time) on January 25th, 2024.
