Police are urging the public to avoid wearing excessive or expensive jewellery that “may attract unwanted attention.”

This comes as a Port of Spain man was sentenced to 18 months hard labour for snatching a gold bera, valued at $5,500, from a woman at Henry Street.

The incident, which occurred on May 6th 2024 while the woman was at a store, was investigated by CID and IATF officers who identified the suspect as Shem Charles, aka Akeem Charles, of Duncan Street.

Charles appeared in court on June 12th, charged with larceny from the person.
