A fire overnight at the Beetham Landfill has been extinguished.

SWMCOL says the blaze began around 7pm on the periphery of the western end of the landfill and was put out by its Emergency Management Team and the fire service.

As at 9am, it noted that there are still pockets of smoke coming from the site, but there is no disruption to commuters entering Port of Spain.

However, SWMCOL says fence line communities may be impacted.
