BCCI: Rishabh Pant fit to play IPL 2024

India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is fit to play in the IPL starting this month after being seriously hurt in a car crash in 2022.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) says this follows an extensive 14-month rehab and recovery process.

Pant plays for Delhi Capitals and is expected to take up wicketkeeping and batting duties when the 2024 season gets underway on March 22.

The Capitals play their opener against Punjab Kings a day later.

On December 30th, 2022, Pant suffered multiple injuries in a car crash near the town of Roorkee in Uttarakhand state.

His last cricket came during India’s Test against Bangladesh just days before the crash.

Meanwhile, the BCCI also gave the following updates:

“Prasidh Krishna: The fast bowler underwent surgery on February 23rd, 2024, on his left proximal quadriceps tendon. He is currently being monitored by the BCCI Medical Team and will resume rehab at the National Cricket Academy soon. He will not be able to take part in the upcoming TATA IPL 2024.

Mohd Shami: The fast bowler successfully underwent surgery on February 26th, 2024, for his right heel problem. He is currently being monitored by the BCCI medical team and is ruled out of the upcoming TATA IPL 2024.”
