Azim Bassarath is set to retain his post as Cricket West Indies Vice President.
According to CWI, Mr Bassarath was the sole candidate at the close of nominations for the upcoming election for the post.
He was nominated by the Jamaica Cricket Association and Leeward Islands Cricket Board.
CWI says the nominations were circulated as customary, and every territorial board, which constitutes the shareholders, was adequately notified.
The election for Vice President will be held on September 20th 2024.
It follows the recent judicial decision in which Guyana’s High Court declared the CWI Vice President’s election in 2023 as null and void.
Mr. Bassarath was the man elected on that occasion.
He recently vacated the position to allow the upcoming election.
CWI says the poll will provide “a timely resolution to the current vacancy of the Office of the Vice President and reinforce CWI’s commitment to fair governance.”
