Balliram Maharaj appointed new Arima Mayor

Businessman Balliram Maharaj has been appointed as the new Mayor of Arima.

This has been confirmed by a Facebook post by the page for the outgoing Mayor of Arima, Cagney Casimire.

In his post, Mr Casimire said it was an honor and privilege to serve his town, Borough and people.

Mr Balliram, CEO of Arima Discount Mart, will have Councillor Jovan Roberts as his Deputy Mayor.

At the Regional Corporation level, outgoing Tunapuna/Piarco Chairman Kwasi Robinson has confirmed that he will be replaced by Councillor Josiah Austin.

Meanwhile, the T&T Express reports that Chairman of the East Port of Spain Development Company Chinua Alleyne has been appointed Port of Spain Mayor with social worker Abena Hartley as Deputy.

The Express also reports that councillor Robert Parris has been appointed San Fernando Mayor with Dr Ferri Hosein returning as deputy.

It also stated that the new Point Fortin Mayor would be Alderman Clyde James and deputy would Kwesi Thomas.

Additionally, the article has named Akeliah Glasgow and Richard Walcott as Chairpersons of the Diego Martin and San Juan/Laventille Regional Corporations respectively.
