A 49-year-old supervisor from Tobago was granted $20,000 bail after appearing in court charged with assault by beating and breach of a protection order.
The man appeared before Tunapuna Magistrate Indra Ramoo-Haynes on Monday and will next go before the court on May 20th.
On the night of January 25th 2024, the victim and accused were at home in Tunapuna when he allegedly started beating their two children with a leather belt, accusing them of stealing money from his wallet.
The victim was hit in the back of the head with the belt when she tried to intervene, leading to an argument where the victim was also beaten.
The TTPS says the victim and her children went to the Tunapuna Police Station, where a report was made and a Protection Order issued.
The defendant was arrested the same day and subsequently charged.
