Bail for car dealer charged with Larceny Motor Vehicle

A car dealership director has been granted $20,000 bail after being charged with one count of Larceny Motor Vehicle.

73-year-old Andy Williams of Coral Drive, Gulf View, La Romain, appeared virtually before High Court Master Sookraj-Goswami, yesterday.

Another director, 34-year-old Anderson Williams, is charged with two counts of Larceny Motor Vehicle, is expected to appear in court tomorrow.

The charges follow an extensive investigation by the TTPS’ Stolen Vehicle Squad into the illegal registration of three Nissan Tiida vehicles in 2015.

The discrepancies were discovered last year during the Private Motor Vehicle Inspection System.

The investigation included the Licensing Authority and other external agencies and resulted in the arrest of the two men after the execution of a search warrant at their La Romain dealership on January 30th 2024.

Enquiries revealed that the three vehicles had been reported stolen between July and September 2015.
