The Bail Amendment Bill was passed in the House of Representatives yesterday with Opposition support.

In a media release, the UNC says it proposed amendments which were accepted by government.

It believes that, with this show of legislative backing, the PNM cannot use a lack of Opposition support as an excuse for the crime situation.

The Attorney General has said that this bill is critical to addressing the situation of repeat offenders of serious offences seeking bail.
