The Bahamas is celebrating its 50th Independence Anniversary.
The country is celebrating with a series of events, including street parades.
In a speech to mark the occasion being observed today, Prime Minister Phillip Davis said “Independence was and is, a state of mind, an attitude, a conviction”.
The celebrations are being attended by regional and international guests including Rwandan President Paul Kagame, Grenada’s Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell, Commonwealth Secretary General Patricia Scotland and US Congresswoman Maxine Waters.
