Another assurance is being issued to police officers that their backpay will be delivered.

This came today from ACP Winston Maharaj, who spoke during a media briefing held by the National Security Ministry.

He insisted that the money is there.

ACP Maharaj says more than 99% of special reserve officers and close to 55% of regular officers have received their backpay.

Meanwhile on another issue, the TTPS says efforts are being made to deal with noise pollution this Carnival.

ACP Maharaj says a meeting is scheduled with some stakeholders this week.

He adds however that in some instances, it will be a balancing act.

Also speaking was Carnival Gold Commander Kelvern Thompson, who again assured that measures are in place to ensure the safety of all citizens.
