Walking, cycling and running are modes of transport that were around before motorized vehicles and should be respected, according to Arrive Alive President Sharon Inglefield.
She made this statement as her organization revealed plans for a Walk and Ride event for the 2024 World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims.
On Sunday 17th November, there will be a long-distance ride starting at 6am on the following routes:
• West – Queens Park Savannah to Piarco and back
• South/Central – the Velodrome to the Queens Park Savannah and back
• East – Larry Gomes Stadium to Queens Park Savannah and back
At the Queen’s Park Savannah, runners, cyclists and walkers will make one lap starting from 7am and there will be a Traffic Village until 1:30pm with a range of safety activities and more.
Mrs Inglefield says in most developed countries, drivers share the roads with all users, including pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists, and respect each other as part of a civilized society.
