The Arima Mayor has met with officials to discuss the needs of the Arima Fire Station.
Among those meeting with Mayor Balliram Maharaj were Acting Assistant Divisional Fire Officer of the Northern Division, Cranston Khan and Acting Fire Station Officer for the Arima Fire Station, Ainsley Bernard.
Among the issues raised during the meeting was the need for the station to be provided with the requisite appliances, apparatus, equipment and tools to aid officers in their duties.
Also brought up were the problems of inconsiderate parking in front of the fire station and traffic woes which hamper officers during emergencies.
Mayor Maharaj said he will be taking the fire officers’ needs to the business community in a bid to get them some assistance.
The Arima Fire Station is one of two facilities reviewed by a three-member committee following the Farfan Street fire that claimed the lives of MP Lisa Morris-Julian and two of the children on December 16th, 2024.
