A vessel is coming to temporarily serve the local seabridge while the Cabo Star is being repaired.
The Cabo Star has been out of service since August 24th following a fire in its engine room.
At a media conference this morning, Port Authority Chairman, Ret. Colonel Lyle Alexander, said the incoming vessel is being provided by the Cabo Star’s owner, Bridgemans.
This vessel is smaller and will only carry cargo.
Mr Alexander also revealed that repairs on the Cabo Star are expected to be completed between September 17th and 18th, but reiterated that it needs to be re-certified before returning to service.
Responding to concerns of a backlog of cargo trucks at the port, he assured that the Authority is trying to accommodate them with the available operating vessels.
The Authority has also confirmed that the Galleons Passage is being used exclusively for cargo at this time.
