Alzarri Joseph has been named as Vice-Captain for the upcoming ODI series between the West Indies and England.
Shai Hope returns to captain the 15-member squad that includes two uncapped players: batting all-rounder Sherfane Rutherford and seam bowling all-rounder Matthew Forde who earns his first ever senior team call-up.
Cricket West Indies has also recalled experienced wicket-keeper/batsman Shane Dowrich who played his only ODI in May 2019, and opener Kjorn Ottley who played two ODIs in January 2021.
Missing from the side are: Justin Greaves who is unavailable due to an injury sustained in the recent Super50 Cup, Nicholas Pooran who is unavailable as he prioritizes preparation for T20I format, and Jason Holder who is prioritizing his preparation for Test and T20I formats.
Lead Selector Dr. Desmond Haynes explained Joseph’s appointment as Vice-Captain, saying he demonstrated maturity and good leadership qualities for the Leeward Islands Hurricanes during the recent Super50 Cup.
The ODI Series against England will feature three matches: the first two will be played in Antigua, while the third will take place in Barbados.
