Air Quality “Unhealthy” in Port of Spain

Air quality in Port of Spain is currently Red or “Unhealthy”.

This is due primarily to the presence of Saharan Dust in the atmosphere.

According to the EMA’s Air Quality Index, there is the chance of increased aggravation of respiratory symptoms in sensitive groups; increased aggravation of heart or lung disease and premature mortality in people with such ailments; and increased respiratory effects in the general population.

Meanwhile, air quality index readings are currently Yellow or “Moderate” in Arima, Mayaro, Point Lisas and San Fernando.
