The Attorney General’s Office says steps have been taken for the consideration of potential amendments to the Hindu Marriage Regulations under the Hindu Marriage Act, Chap. 45:03.
The collaborative process in this matter was reportedly led by Minister in the AG’s Office, Renuka Sagramsingh-Sooklal.
It adds that AG Reginald Armour has referred further consideration of a Report prepared with proposed amendments to the Law Reform Commission, which will examine and make recommendations for policy considerations.
Mr Armour has also directed the Commission to examine the potential for similar policy consideration for reform in other sectors of the national community, “with a view to recommendations for greater national recognition of the rights of Women and recognition of the value of the core fabric of family life, as the pivotal national societal institution.”
