AG announces final extension of Companies Amnesty

The Attorney General will advise the Cabinet to extend the current Companies amnesty.

It says the ongoing amnesty has seen a waiver of late filing penalties in respect of corporate filings with a deadline of December 13th 2024.

It adds however that the Companies Registry Online System has been experiencing some technical challenges, which have resulted in a disruption to some operations.

As such, the AG says he will advise Cabinet to extend the amnesty until January 13th 2025.

He says the Office of the Registrar General will not impose any penalties until after such date and will continue to allow the filing of all outstanding documents to ensure companies are able to bring their files up to date.

The AG’s Office warns as well that this will be the final extension.

It say, “Our international taxation obligations, particularly concerning transparency and the exchange of information on request, could be significantly impacted. This, in turn, may affect our international rating. Therefore, we strongly urge all currently non-compliant companies to seize this final opportunity to take advantage of the amnesty before the expiry of this deadline.”
