Social media was alight over the weekend, with persons highlighting instances of deductions being made from their bank cards.
They also reported reimbursements, however in the case of one business, the reimbursements were less than the amount deducted.
That business has since issued a statement, along with the Bankers Association of T&T, which said the reversal was due to a processing issue, which would have impacted many of the banks. READ MORE HERE
103.1FM News spoke today with Sheena Biptar Lalchan, whose post on Facebook highlighting the deduction and reimbursement to her account went viral, with over 1,200 shares.
Mrs Lalchan says many persons reached out to her after seeing the post and share her concerns regarding the security of their banking information.
She is now calling for a full and proper explanation of the issue.
Mrs Lalchan says the lack of timely information was also highly frustrating for those affected.
Moving forward, she wants the banks to say exactly what will be done to prevent a recurrence of the situation.
She is also advising consumers to be vigilant in the future.
