Actor Val Kilmer, popular for Top Gun & Batman, dies at 65

Actor Val Kilmer, who starred in some of the biggest movies of the 1980s and 90s, has died at the age of 65.

His daughter Mercedes confirmed that the actor died of pneumonia on Tuesday in Los Angeles.

She said her father had been diagnosed with throat cancer in 2014 but later recovered.

His movie career hit its zenith in the early 1990s when he made his name starring as Elvis Presley’s ghost in “True Romance”, the fan favorite Iceman in “Top Gun” and donning the voluminous cape as Batman in “Batman Forever”.

Other film credits included 1991’s “The Doors” in which he played the legendary band’s frontman Jim Morrison, plus the Western “Tombstone” and crime drama “Heat”.
