Acting Top Cop reports decrease in crime as SoE wraps up

As the State of Emergency comes to an end, the latest statistics from the TTPS have shown a decrease in crimes.

That’s according to Acting Police Commissioner Junior Benjamin, who shared the stats at today’s TTPS media briefing.

The Acting Top Cop also noted reductions in property crimes and motor vehicle larceny.

Mr Benjamin also promised the presence of more professional policing as the TTPS embraces the new normal for T&T’s security.

Meanwhile, DCP Curt Simon detailed the seizures made during the SOE, which were in done in collaboration with the Defence Force.

For this period, 4,911 exercises were done, resulting in the seizure of 187 firearms, 3,890 rounds of assorted ammunition, 1,736kgs of marijuana and 185kgs of cocaine.

As for what happens when the SOE ends, DCP Simon said all law enforcement entities have been consulted and assured that there are short, medium and long term plans for a better crime prevention delivery output.
