A 32-year-old New Grant woman is due in court on Tuesday over fraud charges related to insurance policies.

A woman reported to police that between August 2020 and June 2023, she paid over $15,000 to an insurance agent to be applied to a monthly premium towards her insurance.

However, that money was allegedly never paid on her behalf, causing the policies to lapse.

It was discovered that the insurance agent was no longer employed with the insurance company and was not authorized to collect money on its behalf.

After attempts to get a refund proved futile, police investigated and arrested a suspect.

Diane Morales has since been granted $80,000 bail by Justice of the Peace, Carl Dattoo.
