$75,000 bail for businessman charged with fraud-related offence

A dishonoured cheque has landed a Cunupia businessman in trouble with the law.

On May 29th, the man wrote a cheque under the name of his business as he brought items valued at $26,469.06.

The cheque later returned as dishonoured due to insufficient funds and multiple attempts to recover the outstanding funds were unsuccessful, prompting a report to the Fraud Squad.

Steve Balroop was subsequently charged with obtaining goods by use of a dishonoured cheque.

He appeared before Justice of the Peace Krishna Ramkissoon at the Cunupia Police Station on May 15th and was granted $75,000 bail.

Balroop is now scheduled to appear at the Chaguanas Magistrates’ Court on June 26th.
