Five robbery suspects have been held in the Central Division.
Around 6:15pm yesterday, officers were on mobile patrol along Rivulet Road in Couva, when they spotted a white Nissan Tiida matching the description of a vehicle involved in a recent robbery.
The vehicle was pursued and eventually intercepted along the northbound lane of the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway, in the vicinity of the tunnel.
There were five male occupants and the officers subsequently found a Ruger Pistol and a magazine containing 17 rounds of ammunition.
The suspects are: a 24-year-old and 30-year-old from Laventille, and three Venezuelans – ages 23, 24, and 25 – all from Carib Street, San Fernando.
Meanwhile, earlier today, TTPS officers and Regiment personnel conducted an Operation Blue Line Exercise, which included periodic stop and search checks.
While at Hassarath Road Intersection, Cunupia, a black Nissan B13 with one occupant was stopped.
When the driver was searched, they found a firearm magazine, with two rounds of ammunition.
The man was also charged for Driving Without a Valid Certificate of Insurance, Driving Without a Driver’s Permit and Failing to give Fingerprint Impressions.
