5 held for DUI

Persons are again being urged to designate a responsible driver as the Carnival season heightens.

The call comes from the TTPS as five drivers were arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence.

The joint exercise was executed along the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway in the vicinity of the Gasparillo Bypass Road, between 3am and 6am today.

The TTPS says over 40 drivers were stopped and tested in the exercise, during which time five men were allegedly found to be over the legal limit of 35 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millimetres of breath.

Two of the five drivers allegedly recorded a reading of 78 microgrammes of alcohol per breath.

All are due to appear before the courts on Monday.
