Police are investigating a quadruple murder in Mayaro.

According to a report by Newsday, Jeremiah George, Marcus Buddy, Keyon Mendoza and Buddy George were shot dead around 12:30am while asleep at a camp on Basil Trace, Bristol Village.

The attack was allegedly carried out by six men dressed as police.

Commenting on the incident, Mayaro MP Rushton Paray says the once-peaceful rural community has been left devastated.

He also criticised the Government, accusing it of failing to address escalating violence and crime, and urging that comprehensive measures be put in place to combat “this scourge”.

According to the TTPS, 22 murders have now been recorded in March this year, compared to 15 in the same period in 2023.

Also, there have been 108 murders so far for 2024, compared to 118 for the same period last year.
