Police have held four suspects who were allegedly involved in an armed robbery at a supermarket in Arouca yesterday.
Around 10:40am, three men – one armed with a firearm – entered the supermarket at the corner of William Street and Lopinot Road and announced a robbery.
They relieved an employee of various items, including alcohol, cigarettes, lighters, vapes, the establishment’s DVR system and cash.
Four customers were also robbed of personal items.
The men fled the scene in a brown Nissan B-14 vehicle, which was later intercepted in Maloney following a coordinated response involving multiple police units.
Four occupants – ages 21, 22, 25 and 26 – were detained and some of the stolen items were recovered.
The officers also seized a firearm along with 12 rounds of ammunition along Golden Grove Road.
The getaway vehicle was also found to have false registration plates and has since been impounded at the Arouca Police Station.
