30 students have been appointed as Child Labour Ambassadors.

The appointments were made by the Labour Ministry’s National Steering Committee for the Prevention and Elimination of Child Labour to raise awareness on this issue.

The 30 ambassadors were trained over a two-day period on March 27th and 28th, on the rights of children, child labour, hazardous work, the laws that protect children and where children can access support services.

The Ambassadors are from seven Secondary Schools:

• Toco Secondary School
• El Dorado Secondary School
• Mucurapo West Secondary School
• Carapichaima East Secondary School
• Debe Secondary School
• Iere High Secondary
