Three persons are expected be charged under the Firearms Act after they were found in possession of three homemade shotguns and ammunition.

The discovery was made yesterday in Charuma, during a joint operation led by officers of the Game Wardens Unit and the Estate Management and Business Development Company.

The officers reportedly encountered a parked vehicle adjacent to a hunting camp.

Upon hearing gunshots, the team intensified surveillance efforts, leading to the detention of three armed individuals approaching the hunting camp.

None of the individuals held a valid Firearm User’s License or were exempted under the Firearms Act.

The overall exercise also included TPD Road, Navet, Tabaquite, and the Central Range Game Sanctuary and was aimed at enforcing wildlife conservation regulations and combating illegal hunting.
