The first $20,000 towards a vision screening initiative for schools has officially been handed over.
In a media release, the Education Ministry says the T&T Manufacturers’ Association yesterday provided Unicomer Limited with a cheque towards a project called “Brighter View.”
This is the first instalment of a $90,000 commitment to the project.
It will allow free vision screening to be given to 40 primary schools which are part of the Ministry’s 106 schools of focus.
The Ministry adds that, with TTMA’s support, eye glasses will be provided for students in need.
The Ministry notes that vision screening is critical as, in many cases, vision impairment goes undetected and hampers academic performance.
