2023 National Parenting Programme launched

The Social Development Ministry has launched the 2023 edition of the National Parenting Programme.

Speaking at the launch today, Minister Donna Cox said there is evidence to indicate a parental crisis in T&T at the moment.

The programme aims to provide parents with the skills needed to navigate situations, develop appropriate parenting styles and implement effective discipline strategies.

Ms Cox believes such positive parenting will help address juvenile delinquency and school violence.

A key partner in this initiative is the Police Service.

The Ministry says Parenting Workshops will be held virtually and in-person over the coming weeks, targeting parents, grand-parents, foster parents, single parents and guardians.

Following this, it says parenting support groups will be formed at the community level.
