Following a recount, the UNC has won the Arima Northeast electoral district by one vote.

According to the EBC, at the close of polls on Monday’s Local Government Election, the UNC and PNM had each received 623 votes.

Following the recount, UNC candidate Jairzinho Rigsby received one more vote to move to 624 and capture the district.

The EBC says a recount in Maracas/Santa Margarita and a second recount Lengua/Indian Walk are still in progress.
