20,000 acres of land for Guyana’s Essequibo farmers

Farmers in Guyana’s Essequibo coast will benefit from some 20,000 acres of new land, to address the long-standing issue of high rental costs.

President Irfaan Ali made the announcement over the weekend, as part of the Government’s forward-looking policies and initiatives to strengthen the country’s agriculture sector.

He said there are plans to also invest in capital development, including providing seed paddy, building drainage and irrigation infrastructure, and ensuring the land is farm-ready.
