Some 20 homes in Gasparillo suffered damage following heavy rains and wind yesterday.

Out of that number, two houses were almost completely destroyed, according to Couva/Tabaquite/Talparo Regional Corporation Chairman Ryan Rampersad.

He told 103.1FM News that while affected families received tarpaulins from the Corporation, further assistance is needed from the Social Development Ministry.

Cleanup activities are also taking place at Gasparillo Secondary School.

Classes at the school have not been affected by the damage.

Also damaged by high winds yesterday were two Caribbean Airline hangars in Piarco.
