Two schoolchildren were among several injured in a collision involving a maxi and a garbage truck in Arima this morning.

The truck was heading west along the Priority Bus Route around 7:50am when it signalled to turn north upon reaching the intersection at Olton Road.

It collided with the 25-seater maxi, which was heading in the same direction.

Five persons in the maxi, including the driver, sustained minor to moderate injuries.

The schoolchildren were both students  of El Dorado East Secondary School.

The TTPS says the scene was visited by Acting Police Commissioner Junior Benjamin and Minister of Homeland Security Roger Alexander.
