Two police officers have been charged with the murder of businessman Sachel Kungebeharry.

Acting Corporal Ashraph Mohammed and PC Jason Dan Michael, were also charged with misbehaviour in public office.

Today, both appeared virtually before Master Margaret Sookraj-Goswami, who set status hearing for October 29th 2025 and a sufficiency hearing for November 7th 2025.

Kungebeharry was allegedly bundled into a marked police vehicle near Endeavour Road Extension, Chaguanas on September 25th.

A ransom demand was received by his family, however his body was found on October 3rd in Longdenville.

Meanwhile during a media briefing today, Deputy Police Commissioner Suzette Martin assured that those who abuse their authority will be held accountable.

She said it was a dark day for T&T, with the incident marking a betrayal of the public and their trust.

She adds that the Victim and Witness Support Unit will work with the victim’s family.
