1990 attempted coup: Wreath laying ceremony held at Red House

A wreath laying ceremony was held last evening to remember the lives lost during the 1990 attempted coup.

33 years ago, the Jamaat al-Muslimeen carried out a six-day campaign to overthrow the government.

At 6pm yesterday, the wreath laying ceremony was conducted at the Red House, preceded by a procession of officers of the Parliamentary Police Unit.

President Christine Kangaloo, Senate Vice-President Dr Muhammad Yunus Ibrahim, Deputy Speaker Esmond Forde and former Speaker between 1987 and 1991 Nizam Mohammed paid respects to those who lost their lives.
