11 Venezuelan women rescued by police in Cunupia

11 Venezuelan women, believed to be victims of human trafficking, have been rescued by police in Cunupia.

Three persons were also held: two men and a woman, believed to be connected to a human trafficking ring.

Between 3:40pm and 8:05pm yesterday, a team of officers went to a residence on Ragoonanan Road, where they found 11 persons allegedly being held against their will.

Several items of evidential value were also seized.

The Immigration Department was contacted to assist with the victims, who are currently receiving support services.

Persons are being urged to report any suspicious activities related to human trafficking or exploitation to the TTPS or the Counter Trafficking Unit.
