$100,000 worth of marijuana found near Caroni Bird Sanctuary

$100,000 dollars worth of marijuana has been found under a 40-foot container parked near the Caroni Bird Sanctuary.

During a targeted intelligence-led operation yesterday, officers went to an area of the Uriah Butler Highway, near the Sanctuary.

During a search, they found a black plastic bag containing 10 brown plastic packets, each filled with cannabis.

The narcotics weighed 5.4 kilograms.

Meanwhile a 34-year-old Enterprise man was held after police found $35,000 worth of marijuana at a home in Enterprise Street, Chaguanas.

The drugs were contained in four plastic packets and weighed approximately 1,800 grams.
